The Challenge

In recent years Sipi Asset Recovery had experienced a significant change in the core product our operations group processed; the capacity of the drives had increased significantly which had caused our processing times to escalate dramatically. Our testing procedures expanded and had become more complex. In addition, our client reporting had become more complicated and time sensitive. In order to continue to provide the highest quality service at the best possible price, we needed to initiate a Six Sigma project to increase our technicians' productivity significantly while maintaining our industry-leading quality standards and reporting.

The Solution

By developing the integration between our WipeDrive technology and Sipi's proprietary ERP system, we are now able to electronically interface all of the specifications and full configuration information from any of the data bearing devices that are processed through our facilities. Instead of capturing only general specs, we are able to import a comprehensive profile of each asset processed to fully identify the details of each device and all of its components. This import and leading-edge integration virtually eliminates the need for manual entry while dramatically improving the level of audit for these assets.

Results

Complete and uniform configurations lead to better reporting, better selling price and as a result better returns to our clients. Our technicians can test more data bearing assets with the notably lower human error rate. These improvements have helped Sipi increase productivity in several areas by 15-20%. Because the information is all done within an online tool, we have been able to eliminate the need for printed thermal labels resulting in cost savings and a reduced carbon footprint.
