Delete Internet File

How do I delete Internet files?

When you browse the Internet your computer will store temporary files. These files are used to speed up the load time on you web pages but can slow down your computers performance. The problem with Internet files is that they store personal information about your Internet browsing habits.

You can look at some of these files and identify where they came from by the name. There are many important files to know about that store information and they are Cookies, Temporary Internet Files, History, index.dat file, and other cache files.

The best way to delete Internet files is to use Secure Clean. Secure Clean will scan the computer for these Internet files and delete them. Secure Clean will delete Internet files without having to delete them manually. This will improve the performance of your computer. Manually deleting Internet files may not remove all of the information. SecureClean was specifically created to help you:

  • Safely and reliably reclaim wasted disk space.
  • Completely and permanently clean hard drives of past web surfing history.
  • Clean hard drives of unneeded traces of personal information.
  • Protect you and your family from identity theft.

You can manually delete Internet files. This is a quick fix and not all information will be deleted from your computer. To manually delete Internet files follow these steps:

  1. Open My Computer by clicking on the icon located on the desktop or by the icon located in the start menu.
  2. Open the C: drive or the local hard drive of the computer.
  3. In the C: drive or the local hard drive of the computer there is a folder that is named Documents and Settings. Double click to open this folder to open it.
  4. In the Documents and Settings folder it will list all of the users that have been created on the computer. To access the other users you must currently be logged into a user that has administrative privileges. To delete Internet files double click on a users folder.
  5. In the users folder there are two folders you should delete Internet files and they are Cookies and Local Settings.

If you open the Cookies folder you will see many text files. You can identify this by reading the file name, it will read something.txt. You can delete these files. There is one other file listed in this folder and it is named index.dat. This file cannot be deleted unless you are not under the currently logged in user. SecureClean will remove this file with out any problems or hassle.

If you open the Local Settings folder you will see more folders. The folders you can delete Internet files out of are named Temp, Temporary Internet Files, and History. These files may take time to delete because there are many files stored in these folders.

These files do not delete your Internet passwords, user names, and some form information. Other temporary and Internet files are stored in more complex places.
