I am running Mediawipe on a Dell Media Center XP SP3. I have a 500 gig WD Ext HD. This drive has a corrupted MBR or other FAT record which was corrupted during a Defrag. I thought MediaWipe would write zeros to every sector/record (similar to ZAP) so that it could be formatted and recover/create these corrupted records. It appears to me that MediaWipe won't do this. Any help here is appreciated. Bob |

MediaWiper will write a pattern of ones, zeros or random data depending on the type of overwrite you select to perform. After the hard drive has been wiped you should be able to reformat the drive.
Keep in mind that any data on this hard drive will be gone after running MediaWiper. There will be no recovery of these corrupted records.
What happens when you try to reformat the hard drive after running MediaWiper? Do you receive any error messages? |
