 How to Create a Recover My Files CD/USB Recovery Device
Solution Note: This is NOT a bootable CD. Recover My Files needs the Windows Operating System to run.

Create a Basic Recover My Files CD or USB using another computer:

Note: The Basic Recover My Files requires users to activate the product every time that they use the CD.

  1. Download the latest version of Recover My Files from WhiteCanyon and install in on another computer. Do not activate it.
  2. Copy the files located in the folder C:\Program Files\GetData\Recover My Files\ to a CD or USB drive.
  3. Take the CD or USB drive to the computer you wish to recover from and run the "RecoverMyFiles.exe” file from the CD or USB drive.

Creating a Recover My Files CD using the red CD front end:

  1. Download Autorun.zip to another computer.
  2. Unzip the file.
  3. Navigate to this folder that you extracted from the zip file:

    Recover My Files\en\

  4. Open the file called "RecoverMyFiles.ini".
  5. Enter your Activation Name and Key in the provided location. It should look like this:

    [Registration]
    UserName=Your user name
    UserKey=Your registration key

  6. Now copy the contents of the extracted Zip file to a CD or USB drive.
  7. When you insert this CD or USB drive into a computer the Recover My Files launch screen should automatically appear. If it does not, navigate to the CD or USB drive are run the file "Autorun.exe".

Once your recovery is complete and you have no further concerns about potential loss of deleted data by installing new software, we recommend that you install Recover My Files on your computer so that you will have access to it immediately upon data loss.
