How do I delete Internet files?
When you browse the Internet your computer will store temporary files. These files are used to speed up the load time on you web pages but can slow down your computers performance. The problem with Internet files is that they store personal information about your Internet browsing habits.You can look at some of these files and identify where they came from by the name. There are many important files to know about that store information and they are Cookies, Temporary Internet Files, History, index.dat file, and other cache files.

- Open the C: drive or the local hard drive of the computer.
- In the C: drive or the local hard drive of the computer there is a folder that is named Documents and Settings. Double click to open this folder to open it.
- In the Documents and Settings folder it will list all of the users that have been created on the computer. To access the other users you must currently be logged into a user that has administrative privileges. To delete Internet files double click on a users folder.
- In the users folder there are two folders you should delete Internet files and they are Cookies and Local Settings.
- If you open the Cookies folder you will see many text files. You can identify this by reading the file name, it will read something.txt. You can delete these files. There is one other file listed in this folder and it is named index.dat. This file cannot be deleted unless you are not under the currently logged in user. - If you open the Local Settings folder you will see more folders. The folders you can delete Internet files out of are named Temp, Temporary Internet Files, and History. These files may take time to delete because there are many files stored in these folders.
